Welcome

What we do

The Culinary Training Program offers free job skills training in the culinary arts to nontraditional students.

At the program's heart is a belief in healing lives from the inside out. That starts with fresh, healthy, mindfully prepared food.

This 12-week course not for the faint of heart. It teaches knife skills, food terminology, kitchen safety standards, recipes, and effective work attitudes.

Our strong community partnerships help place graduates with top chefs in their local communities. Classes are ongoing in Miami, FL in partnership with Miami Dade College and in Louisville, KY through the Salvation Army.

Our Chef

Trained in fine dining, Chef Timothy Tucker chose to do more.

He joined the Salvation Army Center of Hope shelter in Louisville, Kentucky. In addition to cooking 400 meals a week, he developed a program to turn the kitchen into a training ground. Chef Timothy created a curriculum of essential kitchen skills, made community partnerships for funding and job placement, and built an organic garden at the shelter.

The response was moving; students of the Culinary Training Program found renewed pride and purpose. Their hard work and personal successes inspired Chef Timothy to spread the program to new locations.
